When you log in to My Budget Bestie, we set a secure HTTP-only cookie called token. This is the only cookie we set ourselves.
Here is what makes it safe:
HTTP-only — JavaScript on the page cannot read it, protecting you from cross-site scripting attacks.
Secure — Only sent over HTTPS connections, never over plain HTTP.
SameSite — Configured to prevent cross-site request forgery.
No personal data — The cookie only contains a session ID. Your name, email, expenses, and financial data are never stored in a cookie.
This cookie is deleted when you log out or when your session expires.
My Budget Bestie uses Stripe to process premium subscription payments. When you access the upgrade or billing page, Stripe may set cookies on your device for fraud detection and security purposes.
We have no control over Stripe's cookies. You can read their full cookie policy at stripe.com/privacy.
If you never visit the billing or upgrade page, Stripe cookies are never set.

In addition to cookies, My Budget Bestie uses your browser's local storage to remember your preferences. This is stored only on your device and never sent to our servers.
Things stored locally include your selected theme, currency preference, and whether you have completed onboarding. This data stays on your device and is cleared when you clear your browser data.
The authentication cookie is essential — without it the app cannot keep you logged in and will not function correctly. You cannot opt out of this cookie while using the app.
You can clear all cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings or by logging out of the app. Note that clearing cookies will log you out.
You can also delete your account entirely from Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data from our servers immediately.
